The Indonesian Update – Volume XIX, No.10 – October 2025 (English Version)

The October 2025 edition of the Indonesian Update presents a critical analysis of the political, social, legal, and environmental dynamics that have influenced Indonesian public policy this month.

The main report, “The Analysis of the Relationship between Regulatory Efficiency and the Rule of Law for Environmental Sustainability in Indonesia,” highlights the link between regulatory effectiveness, law enforcement, and environmental conservation efforts. The article asserts that sustainability cannot be achieved without strong legal governance and regulations oriented toward ecological justice.

In the political field, the article The Paradox of Stability: When Indonesian Democracy Loses Political Tension discusses the decline in political dynamics in the Indonesian democratic system, where government stability is often paid for by weakening the function of the opposition and the space for public criticism.

On the social side, two key articles address important public health issues. The article, “Ensuring Transparency and Total Reform of the MBG Following Repeated Poisoning Cases,” examines the weak oversight of the food industry and the importance of comprehensive reform to protect consumers. Meanwhile, the article, “Optimizing Cervical Cancer Elimination Through Expanding HPV Vaccination for Adolescents in Indonesia,” highlights the challenges of implementing HPV vaccination as a strategic step towards eliminating cervical cancer in Indonesia.

In the legal field, this edition contains two important analyses. The first is “The Notes for the National Police Chief’s Regulation on Police Assault Response,” which examines the aspects of proportionality and accountability in law enforcement. The second is “The DPR’s Further Strategy After the August 2025 Demonstrations,” which discusses the dynamics of parliament in responding to public demands for political reform and transparency.

Through this edition, Update Indonesia remains committed to being a space for critical reflection on public policy across various fields. We hope that the articles in this October 2025 edition will broaden readers’ understanding of the relationship between law, governance, and public welfare.

Happy reading.
